I have some exciting news.

I have a NEW BLOG to put all my pretty little pictures.

One that's bigger & better;

One that watches the kids & cleans the bathroom.
Pretty much, I love it!

I have had "the other" blog for sometime now. I've just been too comfortable here on my little blogger blog, but it's time to move on. And it's time for you to move on with me... now.

I can't get enough of baby porter. I'm thinking you might be seeing a lot of this little chubs. Cuteness like this deserves to be blogged.

And here I am trying to convince my new little nephew that I'm his new Mommy... kind of hand-that-rocks-the-cradle-ish... I know.

Meet Baby Porter

You might remember this belly from this post HERE.

Well, the bun is out of the oven and I have never seen a cuter little bun... errrr... I mean, baby ever. I just want to eat his little fingers and toes. I say that in the most non-cannibalistic way possible.

This baby is a beautiful little miracle and I got to witness his birth.

Textures

In reference to my Out & About post Ashley asked, "Do you mind telling me where you get your texture actions? Thanks!"

Funny you say texture actions because you just reminded me that I have a texture action sitting in a lonely little corner all by itself somewhere in my Photoshop Action file. I guess I should bring it out, dust it off and use it every now and then. I usually just add the texture myself, but it would make more sense to use the action and it would be a lot more time efficient.

Where, you ask, can I find this awesome time saving texture action? Well, you can find it right H E R E. It is one of Nicole V.'s freebie actions. It's great!

I have a large collection of textures (I think it's more like a bad addiction). I have a couple of favorites; this first texture is one of them. I used this texture on my Out & About post.

I also layered this texture on top of the other texture.

I can't remember where I downloaded these from, so I can't give credit where credit is due. Sorry.

If you want to use these textures just right click and save. And if you want to start the bad habit of hoarding textures like me you can check out these two sites cgtextures.com and textureking.com. There are a whole lot more free textures out there for you to look through, but lets start small. I want to ease you into the addiction, and if your texture saving gets waaaay out of control we can start a support group.

This was taken back in the day where we, OK, I prayed every night for Macie's hair to grow. It took a good two and a half years, but I think we are finally getting there.

For the image above and the image below I used a dry brush filter in Photoshop to give it the painted effect.

I'm thinking that this one might find itself on my wall somewhere.

Out and About

We went out for a little walk the other day. When we returned home from our around-the-block adventure the kids pockets were full of little treasures. It's so great to be a kid; so easy to please. All you need is a couple of rocks, a handful of weeds, and a pocket full of dirt to make your day perfect!

Because I {HEART} You!

I do not use the phrase "I {HEART} you" loosely. Nope. This is something I say only on rare and special occasions such as this.

Attention fellow photogs:

NEW and FREE photoshop actions

to share with you! I dare say these are some of my new favorite actions!

Note to my non-photog friends: "An Action is a recording of a series of steps or Commands in Photoshop to which you apply a name. Later on, you can play that recording back on a different file and have Photoshop do your work for you."

Macie can be our guinea pig. I say that in the most loving way a parent possibly can. Oh, and don't mind the funky little under bite she's pulling. It's a phase she's going through... hopefully it doesn't last long.

The Bump it UP! action is a simple everyday work flow action. It enhances the shadows without bumping up the highlights. This action works best on well exposed images, so if your SOOC (straight out of camera) image is a little dark you might want to lighten the image first.

Here's Jessika, my niece. Despite what it may look, she's not depressed, she's just in high school and smiling + high school = the NOT cool factor. It's just a phase she's going through... hopefully it doesn't last long. Now that I think about it, the under bite phase isn't too bad after all.

The Low Contrast B/W action is one of my favorite moody B/W. Same rules apply with this action as well. If your image doesn't have the right exposure you might have to lighten/darken your image to get the look you want.

And, if you're feeling crazy you can run both of the actions. Just remember you can control the strength of the actions by adjusting the opacity in the layers palette.

It's kind of like being spotlighted back in the day of elementary school, but better... lots better.

After I read her posts I, all off sudden, feel a great urge to make truffles, kiss my kids and look at them adoringly, and channel my inner domestic diva that's been screaming to come out.
